I’m known for my social media expertise, but I might as well have “Do Less, Better” tattooed on my forehead.

• “Crop tops and tie dye – what era am I in?”

After dabbling in TikTok last year (read: I only posted 3 videos), I almost gave up on the app entirely. “The teens, they can have their TikTok dances.”

That was – until the start of 2020.

I decided to give TikTok the old college try by posting one video a day.

Two weeks into my posting experiment, I realized something major.

TikTok wasn’t just a place to jump on dance trends or show your toned arms and glistening, ring-lit eyes…

TikTok is a powerful engine for evergreen videos.

“Hmm what if I stopped posting trendy videos and only shared topics that my specific audience cared about – today, tomorrow and 2 years from now?””

I put my hunch to the test and my views exploded.

• 20,000 views.
• 40,000 views.
• 60,000 views.

(And in wayyyyy less time than YouTube.)

Fast-forward to mid-2020 and Instagram drops Reels, its TikTok equivalent.

I applied what I had learned from TikTok to Reels, and the result?
