The Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Dr. Tyler attended Oklahoma State University of Health Sciences in Tulsa, OK. After medical school he completed an Internal Medicine residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. Upon leaving the Army in 2003, Dr. Tyler moved to Colorado Springs, CO practicing inpatient and outpatient medicine where he became more active as a hospitalist physician. Dr. Tyler subsequently finished a Master of Science degree in Medical Education Leadership to pursue a long-time aspiration of teaching in medicine. He is now a full-time assistant professor at Kansas City University (KCU). His clinical interests are hospital medicine, palliative medicine, and hospice care. His interests in medical education include curriculum development, reflective learning, and assessment and evaluation strategies. Dr. Tyler lives in Joplin with his wife Lea Ann who recently completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice specializing in geriatric and adult medicine. His daughter, Tori, is currently a second year student at KCU-Kansas City campus.
