Deciding to leave a partnership in a venture capital firm to start my own general contractor in 2018 changed my life forever. Here’s what happened next:
2018-2021: Launched Task Force Home Improvement, and grew to 6 locations, each above 1-3 million, and imploded under the weight of such aggressive growth.
2021: Dusted myself off. Spent a year unpacking everything I did right and more importantly did wrong. Founded Remodel Commander and switched from privately owning remodelers to doing in-person turnarounds
March 2022: Our #1 client and a top 1% remodeler by sales volume asks me to come aboard as COO to captain our campaign from 9 million to 20 million in sales and improve GP.
April 2022: Improved GP by 60% in 4 weeks. CQC’s CEO suggests I switch from in-person turnarounds to a licensing model for Remodel Commander. We form a beautiful partnership.
I simply couldn’t imagine any of this in March 2021 when I had to tap my home equity to make the final payroll during the exit selling to the employees for a royalty meanwhile aggregated sales exceeded mid 7 figures.
